A pile of stones.

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned" Luke 6:37a

When we are born we are all given a big pile of stones to do with as we please. Some hold on to the stones, for no reason. Some choose to lay the pile of stones down and walk away. While others take their stones, arm ready, throwing them at and towards whom they see fit. Who are you?

You may be asking yourself, "What do each one of these scenarios represent?" Well, I’ll tell you. The stones, they represents our sins that we inherit at birth.

Are you holding your stones? Many people hold onto their sins, keeping them, afraid to let them go. Afraid you ask? Yes, afraid of what life may be like if you let go and go to a place of the unknown, a place where HE controls your life and you don’t! Isn’t your pile of stones getting heavy to carry?

Leaving your stones behind? Good. That is why Christ came to this earth. Did you ever think about why He was crucified on top of a mountain, a pile of stones? He carried His cross to the top of our mountain of stones (sins) and died, so that we do not have to. So take your inheritance and leave them at the foot of the cross. He promised to carry them for you, take Him up on His offer. You’re showing your loving thanks to Him if you do!

Are you throwing your stones? Why do you throw the stones anyway? To get rid of them! They are driving you crazy, they are sin and you know that. You think that if you can show that someone else’s stones are worse than yours, you’re OK, that you don’t need help. So you point out and call someone else a sinner, you judge and ridicule. Here’s the irony. The more you do this, the more stones get added to your pile. Soon the burden, weight and quantity of your stones will bury you alive. Not a pretty picture. I haven’t even mentioned the damage done to the person who receives your damaging blows.

Take time to think about this.

Let this be your prayer today:
Dear Lord, from birth I have inherited sins. I can only get rid of them if I come to you and ask for forgiveness of my sins. You promised that all my stones (sins) I can leave at the foot of Jesus’ cross. I ask that your Holy Spirit reveal to me those that I must take from my pile and add to the mountain. My prayer is that the mountain will continually grow as I am able to rid myself of my stones. Thank you for your love and for taking the weight of sin from my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What are you doing with your stones?

In Him, "E"
