The Last Crusade

"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’" Matthew 14:29b,30

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off of the goal (JESUS). We are limited by the things we see and our understanding of them. I immediately think of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, where Harrison Ford stands looking at a vast gap (the Lions breath) between him and the other side. (You remember the movie, right?) Well, what he doesn’t see is that the bridge is and always has been there to lead him to the other side. But he sees nothing, a huge insurmountable gap. He closes his eyes and whispers, "I believe, I believe!" FAITH! Faith that the bridge will be there.

We all will have an invisible bridge, some rapid waters or some type of seemingly insurmountable odds that we encounter in life. Do we choose to look with our eyes and our understanding? Can we believe, like Indy, that the bridge will be there? Christ can be our bridge in any situation, no matter how difficult.

What three things do you need to get through a difficult time? First you need a path, a way out. Secondly, you need to "believe" and trust in that path. Lastly, you need a life, a guide, to lead you on your path. Jesus encompasses all of these, for He is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE!!! So if things seem difficult, times are tough, put your eyes on HIM and away from the circumstances of life. He will be the wind to blow your sails, the bridge to gap your valley and the calm during your storm.

Let this be your prayer today:
Dear Lord, like Peter I feel alone and terrified when I take my eyes off of you. May you be the path I seek every day for my life. I acknowledge that you are the way, the truth and the life. The circumstances of this world often seem bleak, but you are the source of all victory. I claim the finished work and the blood of Christ in my life. I love you Lord, may you be glorified with my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It’s your last crusade, the gap is ahead of you. What will you do?

In Him, "E"
