Step into the uncomfortable

By Erik Farstad

"Go, and the Lord be with you." 1 Samuel 17:37b

It's been frightening you for weeks, it hasn't gone away and doesn't look like it will. Everyday you are terrified to confront it, what would you say, what would you do? It's huge, it's scary and those teeth look like they'll shred you to pieces. You look down at your shield, your sword and your massive breastplate, but do nothing. You're wearing your helmet, you are ready for battle, but still you do not budge. So why don't you go, you have on your armor of God? What is it? What terrifies you so much? Your fear!

You don't move because you are uncomfortable, you don't know what to expect and you can't determine the exact outcome. Does this sound familiar? Are you David facing a Goliath? Is there a problem you are facing right now that scares you to death? For some it's being afraid to witness to others, to share Jesus Christ with strangers or even friends. Others are scared to stand up for what is right in the midst of wrongdoing. Some of you live two lives; you act one way around "church people" and then bury your beliefs for the world's acceptance. I say again, what are you afraid of? You can't begin to move from fear to peace unless you first acknowledge what is causing your cement boots! Take some time and really come to terms with what you are afraid of and then read on

David was a shepherd. Goliath was a huge giant! You are David and what you are fearing is Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17, you can read of the confrontation between these two and you will see something very powerful. You will experience the victory over fear, the unknown and the impossible. The world is coming against you with swords, spears and javelins, trying to break you down and destroy you. Yet this is where the powerful happens! You carry with you, as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, the name of the Lord Almighty. The name of the Lord concurs any giant, has victory over any fear and gives a peace through the unknown.

To concur your fears, you must step into the uncomfortable. You have to trust in the God who created you. You must believe in His protection and guidance. You must act in His power and might. You must move!

Did God not deliver you from the burning fires of hell? Did He not give you a way out by sending His son Jesus? Then why doubt God about your fears? Stop thinking that you are alone and have to do things by yourself. When you desired salvation, you called upon Christ. When you are hurting and in need, you pray to the Lord above. So to concur your fears, why do you hesitate? You say it's dark, you can't see, that you don't know what is up ahead. That's why you hesitate. Oh, well than that's easy. Take the light of the world with you.

The Lord Almighty is your light in the darkness, your strength in the tough times and your sword during battle. You have all you need, you are wearing God's armor, now all you have to do is call upon His name. The name of the most high, the living God, the one and only Lord of the Heavens.

So now go, go step into the uncomfortable and know that the Lord is with you. He will bring you from uncomfortable to a place of peace and rest. You have nothing to lose but your fear!

In Him, "E"
