A Harlot's Tears

By Gerald Sumeracki

A woman full of sin was she A harlot of the street Yet loved she Him from deep within As sat she by His feet. Her tears did flow and fell upon The Master as he supped And with her hair she wiped His feet And thereby filled her cup. The men around look on and frowned Upon this wicked one "Does He not know what kind she be "The sins that she has done?" The Master knew their evil thoughts And said unto the whore "Thy sins are now all washed away "Now go and sin no more." "For you have looked for light and peace "Where others fail to see "Yes you have seen salvation's way When you did look to me." The others did not understand The meaning of His speech And so the Master told them thus So that He them could teach. "Although this harlot's sins are great "As all you here do know "Through love she's found God's kindness true And beat man's mighty foe." "Now she be God's because she loved "And humbled low her pride "The dawn of life is in her now With God she now does stride."
