Born Blind

By Gerald Sumeracki

While walking down a streeet one day, A Sabbath morning bright, The Lord did see a begging man, With eyes that had not sight. "What would you have me do?" asked Christ, Of this man blind from birth, "To see my Lord" was his reply, A plea most humbly worth. "Then wash your eyes in Siloam's Pool," Said Christ unto this one, He prayed to see as ere he washed, His days of dark were done! "I see!" he screamed in joyful shouts, "I see, and praise my Lord, "For this great gift now mine to keep --" "Be still" the priests than roared. "Who dared to heal you on this day, "Know all what day this be, "Who be the sinner did this deed, "Now that all know you see." "I know He's called the Christ by some," Did answer hin now cured, "But can a sinner do such deeds, "Think I it's through God's Word." "Get from our midst" they told the man, Who saw beyond their sight, The cure the Lord had given him, Brought more than earthly light.
