Revelation Part 17
(Revelation 1:17-18 NKJV) And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as
dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be
afraid; I am the First and the Last. {18} "I am He who lives, and
was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the
keys of Hades and of Death.
The final thing is Jesus. Jesus is the First and He is the Last. If
we went to the very end of space and time and sat in the "Restaurant
At The End Of The Universe" (the title of a humorous book) and looked
out we would not see a void - we would see Jesus. If we were a
mystical traveller and went through all of life's experiences and
came to the last thing that a person could ever experience, it would
be Jesus.
He is the Final Reality. Death is NOT the final reality. For the
Christian death has been conquered. Jesus went through Death so that
it became "no longer final". The resurrection is final,
abundant life is final, Heaven is final and above all Jesus is
final.
Jesus has the keys to Death and Hades. He says who goes in and comes
out. He, not the Devil, has control of the power of Death. The Devil
has been disarmed and disempowered.
(2 Timothy 1:10 NKJV) but has now been revealed by the appearing of
our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and
immortality to light through the gospel,
(Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV) Inasmuch then as the children have partaken
of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that
through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that
is, the devil, {15} and release those who through fear of death were
all their lifetime subject to bondage.
The Devil once had "the power of death" but this has now been
abolished. The Devil cannot destroy our souls if they have found life
in Christ.
(John 5:24-25 NKJV) "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My
word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall
not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life. {25}
"Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when
the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear
will live.
Prayer:
Hallelujah! Thank You for taking us out of death and into life! Thank
You that You are the true Final Reality and that means at the end of
all things there is infinite goodness. Praise the Lord Amen!
