Sunrise

By Gerald Sumeracki

Somewhat neutral was my thinking, Not reflecting on great thoughts, That's the state I found my mind in, As the rising sun light brought. Woke this morning very sleepy, Washed and shaved by 5AM, Had some toast, a cup of coffee, Thought of work, A day "Mayhem!" Start the car and tune in music, Begin the roll down bumpy streets, Another day begins with morning, As the music swings it's beat. Hit the freeway just at sunrise, What a wondrous sight today, Stop the music, be reflective, What's creation have to say? "Look for beauty, look for joy, "Look for all My love, "See the gifts I freely give you, "Sent from God above!" Should I listen to God's nature? Can my heart be truly right? Can a sunrise and it's beauty, Bring my dark soul back to life? "Not a chance!" my mind does tell me, "Forget the heart that speak that way, "God in nature speaks to no one, "The world is really very grey." But This morning's sunrise got me, The colors of it were so rare, The speaking sights of His great wonders, Brought God's life for me to share.
