John’s Mission

By Gerald Sumeracki

John’s mission? Level mountains, And valleys, bring up high, Prepare a highway for the Lord, Teach man that self must die. And so he taught this lesson, Repentance starts man's search, To turn oneself to Yahweh, Is what John was to preach. One bright clear day while washing, Those sinners that had bowed, John came upon a man of grace, Who stepped forth from the crowd. "Why do You, Oh Master, "Come here for me to clean, "It should be I who bows to you, "Now that You I've seen." The Master told the Baptist, "Let it be so this day, "For I must do all righteousness, "So evil none can say." So John did baptize Jesus, Then heaven opened wide, God's voice was heard by those of grace, In Words the wind did ride. "This is my Son in whom I'm pleased, "With Him my love is pure." Yes, God's true Word had come to earth, To make salvation sure.
